I haven’t done this in a long time, but it’s something I want to get back into seriously. We’ve hiked some easy trails locally, but I want to get into it hard and heavy.
With recent health issues I need to put that a priority and to me the best way to get in shape and stay in shape is doing stuff you love. I’m not much for sticking to exercise programs, but getting back to nature is a great way to not only get in shape, but to recharge my mental batteries and feed my soul, too.
We recently bought a popup camper and went camping. That’s nice, but I’d really love to hike into primitive areas and set up a tent. Get completely away from civilization. Plus we’ll be sharing the camper with my daughter and her family so we’ll only use it when we go to Arkansas. If we want to get out and adventure close to home, here in Missouri, we’ll need some lightweight options.
I’ve been adding stuff to my Amazon wishlist, not only did I create a backpacking list, but I also created a regular camping list.
And through all of this I’ve decided I’d like to create a journal and planner for it. I’ll also add that as a product to my store when I get it finished. I will most likely create it in a one of those paper or plastic style 3-brads folders. They are thin and lightweight and will not add any bulk to my backpack. I may collect leaves or other small items and use it like a scrapbook, too. Of course I’ll print pictures of our adventures to add to it.
I’ll post more when I know more.
All the best,
Patti
